Advisory Board members - Do you have opinions and ideas about the Center? We want and need people from all walks of life. Travel Desk Help - We are looking for people to answer questions and sign people up for day and overnight trips. Training is provided. This is a good opportunity to meet others who like to travel.

Quilt Show Committee Members - Work behind the scenes of this popular event and feel proud of your accomplishment at the end. No experience is necessary - bring your ideas. You are welcome to join anytime. Contact Tina Johnson, Recreation/Education Office, 503-794-8092

Environmental volunteers - work parties needed for local parks beginning in December. Sessions are open to volunteer groups and individuals. Contact Clee Ann, 503-742-4350, for more information.

Program/Services Needs

Respite Aides A Place at the Center respite program meets Wednesday afternoons and provides a safe, fun time for people with memory loss issues. But even more importantly, it provides a break for family members. Are you a natural caregiver? If so, please lend a hand one afternoon per week.  Men are especially needed at this time. Nurses for Blood Pressure Clinics - needed twice a month, 1st Monday and 3rd Tuesday to take blood pressures from 9:45-11:45 a.m.

Firewood Stackers/Splitters - Need help with stacking and splitting wood for our Emergency Firewood Program, which assists many low income seniors in North Clackamas County stay warm in the winter months. Contact Marty Hanley, 503-653-8100, for informaiton.

Refinish Outside Benches - Might be a good Eagle Scout project.

Friends of the Milwaukie Center Needs

Bingo Paymaster - sells cards and kitty chances; reads off winning numbers; handles pay outs and keep records; distributes freebies.

Bingo Snack Bar - handles money, sells popcorn and other pre-packaged items.

Rose Guardians - to deadhead the roses and keep the Sara Hite Memorial Rose Garden looking great during the blooming season!

Tax-Aide Preparers - need more people to help out. Each year approximately 1,200 clients come to the Milwaukie Center to receive help with their taxes.

Nutrition/Transportation Needs

Meals on Wheels Drivers -

Can you spare 1 ½–2 hrs mid-day once a week or "on call"? Help deliver fresh cooked meals to home bound community members. We especially need drivers on Mondays!

Lunch servers & Serving groups needed on the 2nd Fri, 4th Thu

Assist others in serving the noon congregate meal.

Money counter needed –

1 hour, once a week.

Bread Program Sales -

Sell bread/pastries/rolls for a few hours each morning. Also need a courier twice a month to pick up bakery items.

Host the On-site Lunch Meal -

Do you like to meet new people and assist them in signing in? Do you feel comfortable making change, doing light number calculations and data recording? Can you work 9 am-12:30 pm. once a week or as a substitute? We’d like to hear from you.

Lunch packers

Assist in packing home-delivered cold packs for delivery. Need help on Mon/Wed afternoons.
