After 10 years in the planning and building stages, the Rose Garden is a beautiful addition to our community. The 800 square foot gazebo, was completed in August 2002.
The Rose Garden is named after the first director of the Milwaukie Center and is truly a labor of love by hundreds of volunteers throughout the community. Generous financial support has come from numerous organizations, memorial brick and bench sponsorships and individual and community donations.
The Garden features over 450 rose bushes, brick walkways, seating benches, a 3,000 square foot plaza and of course, the new gazebo. The Garden is available for rental throughout the year and is an excellent venue for weddings and cultural events.

THE MILWAUKIE CENTER ENDOWMENT FUNDS
The Friends of the Milwaukie Center maintain and oversee four Endowment Funds: The Milwaukie Center Fund, Nutrition/Transportation Fund, Rose Garden and Scholarship Fund. These funds are never spent or used for expenses; however, the interest and other earnings (such as dividends) are used to support the programs and services the funds are intended for.
Every year, income from the Friends of the Milwaukie Center's investment funds is put to work to sustain the Milwaukie Center's programs and services. Without the infusion of dollars from these reserve funds, many of the rich, diverse programs of the Center would be lost or reduced. As income to the Center from tax based resources shrinks each year, support from the Friends has become more vital. The Board of Directors of the Friends of the Milwaukie Center has made building the endowment to at least $1 million its major priority for the next three years. We hope that you can help us achieve this goal.
